IM WANTING TO MAKE AN ALIEN DOLL ..thinking the IRELYN kit is a great modle for this idea

part of the name i have for this side of my doll business is so i can do the kooky and strange stuff, and NOT be gothic, or animal related. i have  pages on Facebook for those, as well as associated blogs.

theres a kit, called IRELYN, that has the strangest look to me...just outside of, 'odd'

and ive been thinking what could i do to her, to make her have a unique and  loveable appeal?

and i was thinking about using some airdry apints, basically arylic paints, and  painting her.

and it came to mind, to  make her into an alien.

she has these HUGE eyes...
which if you had the right eyes for, oh say, an all black, with black iris & pupol, or even a shimmery, or metalic, shed start to resemble an alien.

id just have to find these eyes...im not thinking i have actually seen anything like an entire eye thats metalic, and or shimmery.

but heres her kit.

so, most doll suppliers dont make alien eyes, which they should, because most doll artists have to make those on thier own, by using some random eye and creating  an alien oye out of what they have somehow.

one site i use has a whole vast array of eyes, bit not a single alien type one..

closest i got was this kind, which can have a black base (to us thats the white part of the eye)

i CAN, if i chose to do so, have them custom make me an eye as well

using this eye template i can create anything id like.

 so, basically, i can say..i want an all dark metallic eye, no pupil, black base (or the same metalic as the pupil and iris would be) and i SHOULD be able to get it.

id want her to have something along the lines of this for eyes.

 while i rrealize her eye shape isnt anywhere close to this, i could simply say, shes hybrid. a human/alien hybrid.

id paint her with a grey color, and one of her last layers would be a very thin , few coats of, irridecent, to give her skin a slight shimmer in the riht light, yet keeping her gret tones intact and not over bearing them in any way.
just enough to give a "dewey" appeal to her skin, with a magical feel of a dusting of  sparkles.

she is half alien after all, lol

id most likely also make her a gray cloth body. or find some  slightly shimmer gret/irridecent material, and possibly use that id have to try to emmulate the same look (color, and shimmer) as the fabric in her skin. so the flow from her kit to her body would be seamless.

i never do undersatnd when ppl create a doll, let say a gorill, for instance which for the most part is done in balcks, and heavy browsn, and they leave a felsh toned cloth body on the doll. the idea of this doll being a real enity (real meaning as fluid and realistic as a doll can be) stops when the mind sees that disconnect from the vinyl to the cloth body. if the two dont match, then it takes, to me, the value of what that was made for away.

so, ill have to try to find some  slightly irridencent, gray material.
of course if shes half hybrid, she could be on the more human tones side, which makes finding anything iridescent that much harder because allot of peach fabrics wont come that way...*sigh*

someone made an alien kit, or announced they were at one point in 2011
which i had known about that when it was being made, id have prolly invested in this to do a few.

at any rate, this is an idea i have. so one day, ill actually make the thing. maybe even a few just to see how well they sell. :)

IM GONNA NEED SOME KIND OF CRAFT DESK....

i was at hobby lobby a while back...like 2, maybe 3 months ago. getting supplies for a youtube cooking channel im a part of with a very good friend of mine...

and when i go by the easles, i always drool over them...wishing i had one, so i could paint again.

but in the same area, under the display is a display of craft and drafting tables as well.

and i knew the last time i was there i was going to be needing some kind of "table" for a craft area to make these babies on. as well as store the supplies to make them.

so, tonight, i was bored and i went looking for one of those craft tables...on hobbylobby.com.
i can remember looking at one and thinking, "this would do." but looking again, i doubt it...lol.
so i looked online for anything in a craft table...

and i kept seeing THIS kind of design.

i also went and  looked for do-it-yourself craft desks, and also, again, came across the same idea, over and over and over again...

the basic idea is 2 small book cases and some kind of board across them for the desk.
simple, cheep, and i think i can do this...

walmart has 2 shelves available (i can see from online, anyway)
this one for 15.00

and this one for 20.00

i really need to go look at them, and see if some plastic bins with lids would fit on them, as well as a baby bottle dry rack...

this would hold various parts of the kits. heads, limbs, whatever.
another would hold all the painting supplies.
another all the fill supplies (if i can get it in there, stuffing is kinda bulky)

another idea i have, as im looking for plastic bins/containers is to use this (have 2 of them)

with a shelf, or board across the tops of them, im just not sure how sturdy that would be in the long run.
i like the depth of the draws, because that can hold allot, and they are clear, so i can easily see whats in them, for quick retrieval...

reading reviews on walmart.com allot of people said you shouldnt put anything heavy on this (im not sure they were thinking like i am with 2 of them and distributing the weight across both of them) because they say the drawers buckle and become difficult to pull out.

i also remembered that OFFICE DEPOT has a storage unit in plastic, so i went to go look at it.

what i like about this is the fact theres 2 deep bins and 2 shallow ones, so all my smaller things would go in the shallow drawers, and all my larger things would go in the deeper ones.
sells for 22.00 for just one tho.

ill have to go and size these up sometime soon, so i can have my desk ready for me when i start this venture.
im actually running out of space on my shelf as it is, since i own  5 kits at present with a 6th arriving soon.

if i have something to put this in, and its handy, and available then i can free up that space on my shelf for other stuff...

so, my next big purchase will be some kind of utilizing craft storage area so ill be able to start and house my kits as i work on them.

IM REALLY INTERESTED IN REBORNING DOLLS

so, ive had this idea for a while. reborning dolls.
finding the RIGHT doll to do has been a challenge. simply because starting out is a bit costly.

ive already got a set of ORANGUTAN heads (no body, limbs, hair, etc), as well as a set of CHIMPANZEE heads (same as the others, no body, limbs, etc) to make my OWN (and keep, sorry but i MUST keep SOMETHING, lol) REBORN dolls when i get really good at it.

i figured im a pretty good artist, or was, anyway when i wasnt an artist at all..in theory, i had the talent, i just never went anywhere with it.
and deep inside myself i still desire to paint. and ultimately, i desire to have my art work hang in a gallery somewhere, where people will look at it and comment to each other about it...like an actual art show..thats the bucket list dream ,anyway.

the  ideal, for me, in MY art, was trying to make a flat 2-D image "pop" out and seem real enough to touch...being new and not that good at actually being an artist, i didnt achieve that end result...i did pretty good for a kid of 18 who had never painted before, and KNEW i had this in me..by painting the painting i did of the chimpanzee (its been a theme of my life to adore primates) i did. my teacher, at the time in high school (Mr Barry Weinstein) sent my artwork (or a picture of it) to a national arts award institution, to which for the year of 1985, i won for my painting.
a kid, who had a dream to paint people, won an award for her lack of experience.

i STILL have that painting. tucked away in the very room im writing this in, within reach of easy access in case of a fire. its one of the few items id never be able to live without if i lost it.

THAT painting, has fueld the desire to continue in art.
to continue to desire to collect primate art. yes, you read that right. i own an original GORILLA painting, done by one of the Gorillas at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

when i went to pick the painting up at the ga;;ery. yeah, thats irony huh? a primates made the gallery before me..lol, i was showing off MY painting and was told by the gallery attendant, i should consider getting back into painting again.
well, that of course, set my brain in motion...to paint primates, and give some of the proceeds to charities that help preserve them.

sometime before this, i had discovered reborn dolls. if im not mistaken it was through an article i saw come through some online news in my email.
and was delighted to see, that there is offered PRIMATE prototype heads in Chimpanzee, and orangutang. someday i hope to see a baby gorilla done...maybe ill be the one to create that one.

while we struggle with finances, this dream is a long one in the making.
making these babies isnt cheap. under any circumstances.
and on ebay...you can find any doll between 100-2000.00. seriously.
so, i scan the market looking for the cheapest way to do this, to start out, anyway.
never know, i might just completely suck at this...never know.
i paint, but i CANT  graffiti...seriously, one art doesnt always cross over to another.

so, because i painted a chimp, doesnt mean i can emulate one on a 3-d surface.
but thats the dream.

as i look for a cheap way, i have found BERENGUER dolls, that some reborn artist have taken and made look amazingly realistic!!

until, the artist, takes it and reborns it, and this is the same doll type redone as a reborn..amazing.

the quality is amazing to e, how it looses that "doll" look and has been converted into a "baby".
THIS is my new favorite art form.

so, i seek out BERENGUAR dolls. on ebay. as you can get one, or more, for as little as 20.00.
new in the box, they run an average of 30.00-40.00 a doll.

that cost has to be rolled into the total cost of the doll...of course, but whats 40.00-50.00 dollars to get about 200.00 in the end? if you can accommodate that price...everything you do to one of these dolsl has to be rolled into the doll...everything.

im really anxious to get this going.
