GOT A FEW REPLIES FROM REBORN KIT MAKERS!

yes. i have. amazingly. people actually have responded back to me.
thats something!

Carol Knisley was the 1st to respond back.

Thank you for your kind comments. I think that you have identified all of the kits that have been produced from my work. There are no others in the making...I have never been in the kit business...These kits have been made by kit companies that purchased my original work. I prefer to sell my babies as OOAKs. Please take a look at my website for past and present babies.

Thank you for your interest.

Carol
Carol Kneisley Studios

she does have kits that have been reproduced:

Emma
Kevin
Maddison (a micro preemie)
and
Nicole

so, to find these is a treasure.
she also gave me permission to use her kits on the web page! this is so awesome!
i also got a reply from: DONNA LEE
Those where the only kits......besides Greta, my toddler kit.
Asher
Camden
Corbin
Emmaline
Nora-Anne
Aiden
Nevada

so this is also a great thing to have a list of HER kits available or retired. good to know.
i asked if it was ok to use her Kits on my webpage to which she replied with:
Sure that is fine! Thanks!!!
hows that?!?!?! pretty awesome in MY book, so thats a confirmed 'yes' to the use of images and giving credit to her on the web page..

MARITKA WINTERS was my next reply.
i had asked if it was acurate these kits were by her:
Chicklet
Teddi
Miracle
Sunshine
Sweet Stuff
Taylor
Wee Yawns
Zinny
Lovable
Huggable
Kissable

 her reply:
Hi Michelle,
You have all of mine plus an extra that is not mine. I have never done a kit called Miracle, but the rest are mine. Thanks so much! Best wishes with your new website – sounds great! ~ Marita

this as one reason i posted to these kit creators the names of the dolls...to insure that the site that houses all this info is in fact accurate, maintained by another humn, i expect some degree of error, to which i have already found...
Miracle, is someone elses design...

i also wrote Denise Pratts site/customer service and got a reply back about kits by her as well..
All of her 6 inch kits are being discontinued.  Currently, only two of her 6 inch kits are
remaining.  They are "Cutie", and "Precious", and can be seen at the bottom of this page:

    http://www.bountifulbaby.com/seaside/index/gallery

The missing 6 inch kit, not shown on that page, is "Sweetie".

Also, all of her 10 inch "pre-painted" kits have been discontinued.  They are Joanie, Jaydee, Colby,
and Carly.

There may also be two or three 10 inch kits not on that page that *might* get discontinued.
Currently only "Bryon" is listed on that page, and Byron is definitely not scheduled to be
discontinued.  The other 10 inch kits, not listed, are: Emma, Claire, and Kiri.  They may or may not
end up being discontinued.  No decision has been made regarding those three.

Hope this helps!

WEBSITE IDEA

so, i have this idea...like allot of other reborn artists do (and have, and actually utilize) to have a web page for my display of artwork in realation to reborning kits and dolls.

so, in order to do this, i have to research who all the kit makers are...and what kits have been produced, because MY timeline is right here, right now, and certainly there have been other works done BEFORE now...this becomes a challenge.

so im looking online and come across a website i cant remember the name and ive taken it off my browser (never do that until youve bookmarked it) I FOUND IT! (thank goodness Firefox has session saver!)
rebornkits.canalblog.com/
anyway, it had almost every reborn artist thats ever been around listed.
but one fault i noted was it wasnt a current list of kits available.
or that had even ever been offered. which was quite dissapointing.

so, my idea was this, and it, in and of itself will be quite the challenge, is soo have a section of pages, ny kit artist who have produced, produce and will produce kits for the reborn artist.

giving credit AND exposure to the kit artist.
and..
whoever has done a fantastic job at the reborning and is the image chosen, will be the artist who reborned as a display.

there will be a bio about each artist -if i can find one, or get one somewhere.
and then images of each blank kit, and what they have the potential to be as a reborned doll.
different people see different things, i like to see the differences.
it helps people who may want to custom a doll. to be able to make a better choice if they see the same doll in different views and styles.
straight hair, no hair, whifs of hair, full hair...
blue eyes, brown eyes, black eyes
boy and girl...
like that.

im still trying to decide the name of this website for reborning...

i have always been a fan of the phrase: WHIT and WHIMSEY...and im leaning towards that as a web name. (if its available).
my reasons are because im thinking im leaning, myself more on the side of Monkey reborn dolls...but ill do humans as well...so, WHIT and WHIMSEY is kinda magical, fun, light hearted. the way i feel my page should be projected.

craig says he likes the name with a "Z" and a "Y" on the end: WHIMZY

i looked online for anyone using any varient of WHIT and WHIMSEY/WIT AND WIMSIE/ WIT AND WIMZIE, and any other ways i could imagine to spell it and rearrange the letters, and no one owns it yet!
so, im gonna own it.
and its gonna be the name of MY reborn doll sight.

i have emailed several of the artists as i can find them online.
amazes me that allot of these artists who are so good at the craft of creating these kits done even have a web page to showcase the art they have produced.
so finding emails for them, is well, nearly impossible. and makes the task of highlighting them that much harder.

im still waiting on reply for those whom i have emailed.

ill pray they see this as a kind gesture no copyright infringements intended. and a way to showcase and enlighten others, like myself who have been in the art, or are stepping in for the 1st time.

i really like the idea of having a consolidated area where theres a concise listing of  kits that have been abd are available for the consumer.

so far 2 artists have replied. man! prayers work pretty fast! came in as i was writing about hoping they would write back! lol

ok, so...craigs gonna domain the name WIT and WHIMZY. when he has the cash.
9$ for that domain.

for right now were gonna sub domain under my domain now that i have which is MichelleAWilliamson.com
so for right now the web page, as its being set up and created and thought out will be something like:

MichelleAWilliamson.com/WitAndWhimzy

im really having a hard time deciding if i want it to stand alone on its own without my name on it, or actually have my name included...
like this:

WitAndWhimzy.com

either way the idea stands. and im gonna try to make this happen..

Sculpt toys and collectibles with modern-day tools, techniques and applications used by today’s top industry professionals

Ever since a 12-inch G.I. Joe took toy soldiers to a whole new level by giving them the ability to pose via moveable parts, as well as interchangeable clothing and accessories, the business of creating pop sculpture icons for the mass market was off and running. Superheroes came next, followed by TV show and movie characters, most notably those from Star Wars. Today, action figures exist for sports stars, rock stars, even presidents.

With today’s blockbuster success of animated films, action figures and collectibles have become a behemoth industry—with a growing need for skilled artists who can bring these characters to life. So how do you get started?

The trio of veteran industry insiders who authored this book take you on an incredibly thorough journey that begins with drawing conceptual drafts and continues through rough sculpting and honing the final product. Along the way, you’ll learn how to research your character, shape casts from a variety of materials including wax and resin, make accessories, articulate characters so that they are poseable, paint them, and ultimately convince an art director to buy and manufacture them. Whether you want to make small PVC toys, collectible statues, or larger high-end collectibles, Pop Sculpture offers step-by-step demos and words of wisdom from the pros.

About the Author

RUBÉN PROCOPIO has contributed to more than 25 Disney animated features, including The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. He founded Masked Avenger Studios in 2003 to expand his sculpting, design, and comic book illustration services.

ZACH OAT is the editor of TelevisionwithoutPity.com, a popular TV and movie criticism website. He is former editor of ToyFare magazine and was the original “toy wrangler” for Robot Chicken on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

NEWS - MUM CREATES NEW LIFE WITH DOLLS

Mum creates new life with dolls

A fascination with dolls has led to a lucrative career for Kumiko Kids Reborn Nursery owner Natalya Edsen.
Bev Lacey
ALL it took was a trip to the markets and Natalya Edsen knew she was destined to make babies.
A stall laden with alarmingly realistic “reborn dolls” stood out from the wind chimes and bric-a-brac, and she was hooked.
The Toowoomba mother has built a career on one of the stranger trends to sweep the country — adult women opting for intricate fake babies over the real thing.
“Business is booming. I’m completely booked with orders until October,” she said.
Operating out of a “nursery” in her home, Ms Edsen spends hours each day bringing her dolls to life.
With some fetching $800 price tags, they have to do everything a baby does — except cry.
“One doll can easily take up to a week, working constantly,” she said.
“Each hair goes in, strand by strand, and the dolls have to be baked between each layer of water-thin paint.”
It is not just girls and clucky mothers who employ Ms Edsen’s services.
Her award winning dolls have been used as therapy for alzheimers and dementia patients, as well as mothers who have lost a child.
“The strangest thing was doing my first replica of a baby who died,” she said.
“I was so worried about it, but the mother was over the moon. It made me really proud to know I’d made someone so happy.”
She also runs classes for would-be mothers who want to build their bub from scratch.
“If I haven’t made a baby in a week, I get withdrawal symptoms,” she said.
“They’re very addictive and they’re just so cute!”

NEWS - 'CREEPY' LORD VOLDERMORT BABIES BEING SOLD ON EBAY BY 'REBORN' ARTIST

Creepy Lord Voldemort babies being sold on Ebay by 'reborn' Artist

Have you ever wanted to cradle little Lord Voldemort after he drank Wormtail's re-birthing potion? Well, now you can.

Artist Tracy Ann Lister is a master of creating lifelike babies and has recently crafted characters from Harry Potter.

All the main cast have been re-created, including cute-as-a-button Harry who even has a little lighting bolt across his forehead.

Dressed in miniature outfits, Hermoine Granger and little Ron Weasley will both make you coo, but it's little Lord Voldemort who's causing all the fuss.
Pale and with snake-like eyes, the 'Voldemort baby' has to be one of the creepiest figures to emerge - especially in the uber-cute and ultra expensive 'reborn' doll market.
All dolls are made from various specialty materials and the Dark Lord features a doe suede skin and his veins and capillaries are all weirdly visible.

In a recent auction on Ebay, one Voldemort doll sold for £160.
However, Lister's website lists prices for other works of art as high as £400.

ARTICLE - LONELY? A 12.000 VINYL BABY SHOULD FIX THAT!

Lonely? A $12,000 Vinyl Child Should Fix That!

Hey ladies! Are your kids going off to college? Have you thought about having kids but you're not quite ready for a real, live family? There's a doll for that!
According to recent news reports, elaborate fake babies —called "reborn dolls"— are becoming popular with adult women.
The dolls, which can cost more than $12,000 (but often sell for several hundred or a few thousand dollars) have extremely realistic hair and incredibly lifelike facial features and skin tone, thanks to many hours spent by artists who paint them, complete with one-of-a-kind birthmarks-and painstakingly apply their locks and lashes.
Some of the dolls are made to look exactly like premature babies and delivered with an incubator and even with IVs.
Wow. That sounds a little…well, who am I to judge?
Some younger women claim the dolls satisfy their maternal needs. Some middle-aged women claim the dolls comfort them as their children leave for college. Indeed, companies will supply custom-made dolls that closely resemble a woman's own baby-born twenty years before.
It would be one thing if women were buying "reborn dolls" out of morbid curiosity or a passion to collect them (like Hummel figurines). But women are taking their dolls out in strollers (no kidding) and strapping them into car seats for trips to the mall.
Fortunately, they don't actually believe their "babies" are real.
That would be a true psychotic delusion. But they are able to suspend disbelief and play with them as though they are real-kind of like believing in a movie while you are watching it…
According to the Reborn Dolls website, you can also add other "ideas" such as "heartbeat, magnetic dummy and magnetic hair ribbon."
And you thought your childhood friendship with My Buddy was kind of intense.

PREEMIE BABY CLOTHES - MONKEY INSPIRED

ok, so IF i do do Byron, hes of course NOT a monkey...but i was thinking as im scrolling through pages and pages of PREEMIE baby clthes, "why not dress every human doll in something..'monkey'?"

so, i go searching, and found..a vast array of PREEMIE BABY MONKEY CLOTHES! ok, maybe not as many as i expected but how many outfits does a doll REALLY need? lol

heres some samples:

these are for preemies. the clothing market broadens up when you have a normal sized child or doll.

one of the things i wanted to do with the Primate Reborn Dolls was to sell them at a rate adjusted accoring to whats invested to make it, and then  persentage off an amount id give to  a cahrity/or charities for primate preservation.
if i only sold humn reborns in monkey clothes (too keep with the primate theme) id do the same, id sell the doll, and set aside a persentage to donate to primate preservation from each doll.

maybe i need to come up with a web name like: PrimatePreservationRebornDolls .com, i dont know. i know its a theme but im not sure how to incorporate it into my web idea, because there will be far more human reborn dolls done that chimps or orangutans. i have to think about this idea.

REBORN BYRON DOLL...WORTH THE COST TO TRY

ok, so i keep scouring over BOUNTIFULBABY.com and looking at the dolls they showcase there for the looks you can achieve when you buy a reborn kit to do, and ive found that the BYRON kit, is fairly economical to obtain.
i could actually get 2 for the price of one Cici/Chaz kit, or Bini/Binki kit.
Byron ISNT a primate, but hes a doll i can start to see if i can actually do this for a profession.
hes cheap enough right now, to invest in and try out. and then..sell.

heres some pics of other reborn artist interpretation of Byrons looks:

Byrons blank head

his head (and limbs) sell for: 24.95

body is a doe suede body # 3771 sells for 15.95

theres also neck plug #5560 40mm. sells on the site for .50 cents

of course clothes have to be purchased or made, so thats an additional cost. to the final cost for the sale price.

hes a 10 inch baby doll, when finished.
hes roughly a 40.00 start up doll at the regular sale prices. he could easily be a 100.00 baby when completed. based on cost and time invested.

Artist Tracy Ann Lister specialises in creating incredibly life-like baby dolls, a process which is known as "reborning".

But it is her latest series, inspired by the Harry Potter movie franchise, which is attracting headlines. Lister's shop on eBay now features a range of baby dolls based on Harry Potter characters - from a cuddly Hermoine to a baby Lord Voldemort that will haunt your nightmares.

Traditional purchases of reborn dolls are older women, who purchase the dolls from online 'nurseries' which mimic the process of adoption. The dolls often come with fake birth certificates.
Each doll is painstakingly hand-painted and fitted with real hair and weighted to feel like a human baby.
So if you've ever wanted to parent a baby wizard, this may be your only chance.
